Medical Aid

The Lee Tae Seok Foundation provides medical aid to national hospitals in Ukraine and South Sudan, both of which have suffered severe devastation due to war.

In South Sudan, the healthcare system is in a dire state—not only is there a critical shortage of doctors, but the medical infrastructure is extremely poor. For years, hospitals relied on international NGOs for medication, as there was no government support. However, that aid was recently discontinued. At Juba Teaching Hospital, the largest in South Sudan, the pharmaceutical storage shelves were found to be completely empty.

In August of 2023, with the support of Joonghun Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., members of the Lee Tae Seok Foundation traveled to South Sudan and directly delivered approximately 500 million KRW (about $375,000 USD) worth of essential medications to Juba Hospital and the Tonj village clinic. In February of 2024, the Foundation also visited the Lobonok Clinic, south of the capital, Juba, to deliver additional medical supplies.

In response, the Vice President and the Ministry of Social Welfare of South Sudan expressed their deep appreciation.

The Foundation vows to ensure that this medical support is a regular and ongoing initiative.
